A Punk Rock & Emo Compilation
This 1996 compilation cd has songs on it by Tooth & Nail as wel as non-Tooth & Nail artists. And it has some really good songs on it!
It kicks off with this guy saying
"I hate punks! I'd like to grab 'em by the ears and puke in their faces!"
...And then The Cootees sing their great song "Not too late". It's a shame this song isn't on their album "Let's Play House!" because it's so good! Dale Cootee sings this song and the others back him up. The guitars are great, super distortion, and really tight drums! HEAR IT!!!
In a little more than 52 minutes, a lot of punk & emo bands kick it hard. There's Value Pac with "Missing You", which is also on their self titled debut album (On "I'm Your Biggest Fan" they're called One By One).
Of course, MxPx is there, with a really kewl song called "Lifetime Enlightenment" - it's fast & loud & tight & great & great bridge...
Other Tooth & Nail bands on the album:
And there are other, well known christian bands on this album like Blaster The Rocket Boy, Coolidge (with Damien Jurado), The Inklings and Spesial Guest.
Spesial Guest has this song called "My Life", and it's one of my favorite songs on this sampler - WOW! A punk rock band with a female singer! The singer, Colette Papillion, can YELL! As far as I know, there aren't too many punk rock bands with female singers, but when I hear this song, I think THERE SHOULD BE MORE! COME ON LADIES, LET"S HEAR IT!!!
As always, Ninety Pound Wuss knows how to make a person jump! Their song "Responsibility" is also featured on their debut album. 90 Pound Wuss often only uses some simple chords, but they also know how to use them in a song and together with the singer singing so fast that he could beat Superman, the drummer hitting his guts out and - not to be overlooked - the fast bass, all this makes Responsibility a great song.
