It's Good Friday today, and I took one of my old The
Crucified-records to get into an "Eastern"-mood. Although Mark Solomon
doesn't even want to talk about his time in The Crucified anymore and most of
the older 'The Crucified"-fans are now listening to his new band Stavesacre,
I still totally love this band. The message and the music of The Crucified, one
of the first bands on Tooth & Nail, still keeps me going. Simple old-school
punk/hardcore, with very premature guitar-tabs, a singer who almost speaks when
he shouts out all his fist and a drummer who's playing almost faster than the
light... BUT: They are not faster than light,
but following the Light. This radical, simple message of this band is one
of the things that makes this band so unique in music history. It's all about
Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and Jesus who commands us to go into
the world and take up our cross...
So, first of all we shouldn't forget the absolutely
brilliant music these punx played, but we shouldn't forget the message
either....
