Born Blind - 'One For All' (TN1177-SS32)

This stuff is different from all the other bands on Solid State, since they manage to keep the true old school hardcore-sound instead of trying to create a cross-over between hardcore and metal or hardcore / rap. I have Born Blind’s full-length debut “Pressing On” (on Facedown Records) and though it wasn’t a bad album, it sounded too simplistic to keep me interested. The production on that cd was weak, but on this cd their sound is way better. The band has grown as well, they show to have more skills and besides that, there’s more variety on the new album. They remind me of the old No Innocent Victim and CeaseFire sometimes, but the singer gives it a typical “Born Blind”-sound. The songs on this album are more groovy and a bit harder / up-tempo as on the first album, but it’s still fun and fast old school hardcore. For some kids the old sound might be better, but I prefer this. It’s a pity, though, that the oi!-elements on “Pressing On” are hard to find on this one. Recommended if you like Sick Of It All, Madball, Ryker’s and Backfire.
