MxPx - "Teenage Politics" (TN1032)

It must be about 1.5 years ago, that I bought this cd. Since then I've heard this cd over 137 times (and seen MxPx play a couple of songs from this cd) and I simply can't get enough of this 'CD OF THE CENTURY'. If you're afraid of getting involved in the punk rock business please try to avoid this cd.... it will inhabit your mind and controll your daily life. But lets start with the beginning. The first song, "Sugarcoated Poison Apple", gives a good view of what the cd musically is about. The lyrics rawk and they tell you a story that you haven't probably thought about before. When you've heard the song, play it another time and listen to the really cool high-headed drums thing it starts out with.

In "Do & Don't" Mike (Herrera, songwriter and singer) sings about choices. Listen carefully. You'll recognize the problems. "Teenage Politics" is my favourite song (musically seen) on this cd. I think it's about the politicians who think they know what it's like, being a teenager. They only forget times have changed... I can't hear the next song anymore. "Punk Rawk Show" kicks ass, but when you continually listen to this song for about 3 months, you can't hear it anymore. I'm sorry. I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you aren't as stupid as I am!!! "False Fiction" tells something about christianity:

They guarantee our freedom but freedom isn't real
unless you know Christ you won't know how I feel

Beautiful lyrics, but the song isn't as catchy as the others I think. "Moneytree", isn't about this tree in Mike's garden....unfortunately. It's about people who let others pay for their stuff. They terrorize others. I'm not sure, but maybe Mike means the government here.

"Believing the lies defines american
they don't realize their ignorance and sin"
....
"humanity is diseased and the sickness has increased."

Mike doesn't wanna keep shut about the way he thinks about (american)society. I don't know much about American society (except they generally don't like soccer, which is a shame!!) but can somebody tell me what is wrong over there!?? A fat bass means the beginning of the 'lookoutthechoruswontgetawayfrommyhead- misunderstanding'. It's about Gods' book. Don't neglect the Bible 'cause others say it's "so uncool" or that your parents make you read it, but 'cause it'll help you.

"Legalism" is another song of which the beginning is tight. Read the lyrics (one-by- one), they're about....uh....legalism?! Please don't remove your cd after "americanism". There's a hidden track called "Delores" and it's about Delores -the chickwiththeshorthair- from the Cranberries. There are lots of other songs I could tell about. They're just not played by my random-option on my cd player. They are as cool as the others, make sure you won't miss them!! By the way, visit an MxPx-concert you'll enjoy it! I'm sure!
