Alpha Phi Gamma emerged in the Fall of 1993 and became a reality on February 1, 1994, as the first Asian American Interest Sorority on the campus of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The Founders were Allex Choi, Candy Cunanan, Christine Nguyen, Sandie Rillera, Kolleen Kim, Grace Hsieh and Jennifer Oku. These Sisters wanted to bring together all women of different nationalities through the bonds of friendship and sisterhood. The sorority was established to promote service and Asian Awareness to the University and to the community, allowing for all the different nationalities to discover what other cultures had to offer.

In order for Alpha Phi Gamma to promote service and Asian Awareness we participate in philanthropy activities to help better the ladies who join, and to create a bond with the community. Some philanthropy activities that the ladies of Alpha Phi Gamma have participated in are AIDS Walk, Race for the Cure, March of Dimes, House of Hope and many more. The National Philanthropy for the sorority is the fight against abuse towards women, this is a cause that is not as strongly supported as other causes, but is a major concern for women. Our efforts are to volunteer with shelters and organizations, and to help raise funds for the cause.

CALIFORNIA STATE POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY, POMONA
ALPHA CHAPTER - since 1994

The Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Gamma is composed of a diverse group of young ladies with varying majors, interest, and backgrounds. With their desire and determination the sorority is able to grow and foster into a strong sisterhood and organization. As our ideals and goals were instilled into the hearts of our sisters, they too inspired other interest groups, from other schools, to bring Alpha Phi Gamma to their campus.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
BETA CHAPTER - since 1999

On August 29, 1998, Alpha Phi Gamma established a colony at Northern Illinois University, and is known as the first Asian-American Interest Sorority in Illinois. The Charter Class who started the Colony are Lani Aquino, Rowena Carmona, Helaine Hiso, Michelle Liwanag, Joy Molano and Jaymee Romasanta. These young ladies have created the bond of sisterhood for all women of different nationalities to understand and assist the Asian American community in every possible way. At the First National Conference in Burbank, California Northern Illinois University was granted Beta Chapter on June 14, 1999. Though friendships may come and go, Alpha Phi Gamma is here to stay, and our sisterhood will last for a lifetime.

SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY
GAMMA CHAPTER - since 2000

Twelve young ladies, Clarice Bandoy, Cynthia Chang, Marissa Elson, Lori Hiura, Gabriela Ibanez, Sophani Khvann, Susan Khvann, Evelyn Ng, Amy Nguyen, Kathy Tran, Nhung Truong, and Susan Varee at San Diego State University discovered that they wanted to bring a stronger voice to the Asian-American woman to the campus. They inquired about possible sororities that had the same ideals and goals, which they wished to exemplify, and discovered that Alpha Phi Gamma had those traits. With guidance from the Alpha Chapter the thirteen young ladies learned the meaning of being a member of Alpha Phi Gamma and also what TRUE SISTERHOOD really meant. On April 25, 1998, the Alpha Chapter formally recognized the young ladies as the Charter Class of Alpha Phi Gamma at San Diego State University Colony. After hard work and determination Alpha Phi Gamma's National Board granted San Diego State University, Gamma Chapter on May 20, 2000.

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI, COLUMBIA
COLONY

After attending the Midwest Asian American Student Union Conference, several young ladies returned to the University of Missouri campus with the idea of starting an Asian American sorority. After many phone calls and emails the young ladies decided that Alpha Phi Gamma would be the sorority for them. In the Winter Semester of 1999 the young ladies started the pledge program and on May 28, 1999, the Charter Class composed of Yung-Yi Hsieh, Jennifer Kuo, Elizabeth Morris, Kathy Pham and Sarah Wilcox was formally introduced as Alpha Phi Gamma at the University of Missouri, Columbia Colony.

UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA
COLONY

During the summer of 1999, six sisters wanted to follow in their footsteps and establish this foundation at the University of Arizona. On June 20, 2000 the ladies at the University of Arizon were granted Colony status and are known as the Charter Class, comprised of Annie Chiang, Haegyung Cho, Soogyung Cho, Jennifer Gardetto, Viet Huynh, and Amy Lai, wanted to make a difference in the University and the surrounding community. We have all created this bond of sisterhood for all women of different nationalities to understand and assist the Asian American community in every possible way. We are not here to segregate ourselves from anyone in the community or the university; we are here to help make this community stronger and more open-minded to different cultures. It is through our close bonds that we are able to work together to achieve our goals. The sorority is growing internally and may now focus on other aspects of the Asian American community and the University. Though friendships may come and go, Alpha Phi Gamma is here to stay, and our sisterhood will last a lifetime.



STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK, STONY BROOK
INTEREST GROUP

On February 12, 2000, the State University of New York at Stony Brook was officially recognized as an Alpha Phi Gamma Interest Group. The nine ladies who make up this Charter Class are Lichele Abear, Angela Chan, Yee-Quen Huie, Amy Lai, Yu-Ching Li, Joanna Ng, Kathy Ngo, Jane Rosiri and Yu-Yuan Wu. These young ladies wanted to make a difference in their community, and in order to do so, they participated in various community services. Some of the philanthropy activities completed include being involved with the American Lung Association and the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter.

As for the fate of Alpha Phi Gamma sorority, it will continue to flourish for many years, and decades to come and as we see the sorority expanding across the country. With this expansion, we will be welcoming future Alpha Phi Gamma sisters with open arms and cherish them for their dedication and willingness to help achieve the goals of Alpha Phi Gamma.
