Who Am I?

I am a 19 year old girl and I live in Vancouver, British Columbia...home of the Grizzlies (sorry about that), the Canucks, and the best skiing in North America.

I'm a student at the University of British Columbia.  My major is Biology (specialization Ecology & Environmental Biology) and my minor is English. Weird combination?  I don't think so.  Communication is an important part of any field, and besides, I'm interested in both biology & English.
In January 2000, I will start the Cooperative Education Program, in which I'm sent out as cheap labour to companies where I can get work experience in biology.

Music...my favourite band is Counting Crows.  I've seen them perform live twice in Vancouver.  Maybe they'll come back on tour with their new album, This Desert Life.  Meanwhile, I'll put Anna Begins on repeat!

Vancouver is home to some of the greatest ski mountains in North America.  Of course Whistler tops them all, but Cypress, Grouse, and Seymour are some of the good local mountains.  I can generally make my way down a black diamond without any broken bones.

Squash has lately become my sport of choice.  It's sort of like tennis, but played with a small, black, not-very-bouncy ball.  You hit the ball against a wall, and your partner/opponent returns it.  Usually I play two or three times a week, depending on my & my partner Naomi's schedules.

I was recently elected to the 1999-2000 executive board of Hillel House, the Jewish Students Organisation at UBC (as Cultural Chairperson).  I am very excited to be planning a Jewish Film Festival for January 2000.  So far, the plan is for a week-long event, with two guest speakers (soldiers in the Israeli army) coming in from Israel.
