About Me

I am a student at The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas. I am a member of The Colony High School Marching Band in which I play the Tenor Saxophone. I like movies, the computer, to read, hanging out with friends and music. Music is basically my life. One day I would like to go into music education or law, I haven't decided yet.

Last year's show was A Night on the Town featuring music by Leonard Bernstein. The season took off to a great start. We went to the Birdville ISD Marching Festival where we won Outstanding Visual Effect, Outstanding Music Award, Outstanding General Effect, Outstanding Colorguard, and Best in Contest. When our best in class award was annonced, we all yelled for two minutes straight. Our next contest was the UIL Marching Contest. Here we received a division 1. The next major event was the Duncanville Marching Contest. This year we placed one rank higher than last year, 3rd. We were all a little disappointed, but it was better than before. Our last major contest was BOA in Houston. This trip was a whole lot of fun. We all jumped onto the bus after our last football half-time performance for the 6 hour trip. Of course, like any band ride, the bus was half the fun. Hardly anyone got any sleep that night. Our performance time was at 8:00 a.m. and half of us were asleep. Despite this, we still managed to get into finals. By the time finals rolled around, we were all really tired and hungry because we hadn't eaten dinner yet, so our performance was not up to par. In the end we came out in 6th place.
Last year our Spring Trip was on Padre Island. We left the school at about 3:50 on Thursday. After driving for the rest of the night we reached our destination at 1:00 am. When we arrived we headed straight for the grocery store. It was a funny sight seeing all of the band kids running around half asleep fighting for the best food. When we finally reached the condo, Gulfstream on Padre Island, many people decided to stay up and try to catch a glimpse of the ocean. Most were unsuccessful due to the obvious lack of light. The next day we loaded up the buses and watched the Varsity and Concert bands play. Later that Friday the Orchestra played. After all of the concerts were over, we finally got have fun on the beach. There was of course the jelly-fish scares and the seagulls attacking the random band student, but other than that the day went by in a flash. Unfortunately for Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony, we got to rehearse for our contest the next day late that night. Saturday went much like Friday except we had the awards ceremony. When it was all said and done, Varsity got 2nd runner up and 1st division, Concert got 1st runner up and 1st division, and Symphonic and Wind Symphony got Best In Contest and 1st division. For the remainder of the trip most people decided to get sunburned, while others let the sun go to thier head. (See Sax Line Pics) All and all it was a fun trip and we came home tired and sunburned, yet happy to get the days off of school.
