Gray's Peak

This was to be my first ever ascent of a 14er, besides the drive to the top of Mt. Evans. I started fairly early and the sign at the trailhead said that the hike should take around two hours. I planned on spending at least that much time hiking. I started and had a pretty uneventful hike with no one else around (come to find out this is VERY rare for this trail). I thought about turning around several times due to the snow and sleet that were falling, but continued along the trail. When I hit the two hour point, I figured that I shouldn't have much farther. Around one more switchback, the summit appeared abruptly through the storm. Cold and wet, I didn't stay too long. I couldn't see much anyhow, but for a brief moment, the clouds disappeared and I could see Loveland Pass in the distance. If it was not for this short clearing, I would have never gone on another climb. I decided to scrap the idea of doing Torrey's as well, due to the weather. Another time I thought.

Along with me on the climb: No one

Total Round Trip Time: 3.5 hours
