Lincoln-Democrat-Bross

These three peaks are easily climbed together in one day from the Kite Lake trailhead. On this day I was met with crisp, blue skies and warm temperatures (at least until later). Most of the climbing is done on good trails and it is hard to get lost as you can see your vehicle from any vantage point. I started by going up Democrat first, did the traverse to Mt. Cameron and summited. From here I went out to Lincoln and on the way back to the saddle connecting with Bross a storm was beginning to blow in. It didn't take long and soon it was smowing and hailing with 20-30 mile per hour winds. I had met a couple from Kansas and was hiking with them, and we all dove into some of the abandoned mines of the east side of the saddle. After about 15 minutes, the storm had cleared and we resumed the ascent. We summited Bross and started heading down the wonderful (NOT!) scree on the west side. Another storm was blowing in, so we hurried down and reached the vehicles before it struck. This one had lightning, so it was good we made it down in time. I parted from the Kansas couple and came home. As a side note, those of you with passenger cars, take it easy on the road to Kite Lake. It is fairly gentle, but the last half mile or so is extremely rough!
