Pawnee Pass
This is a fairly easy hike, but does have some elevation gain to it. It is 8 miles round trip, and straight forward as to getting there. The trail is a little west of Brainard Lake and goes back for 2 miles to Lake Isabella. From here take the trail to the right and follow it for 2 miles to a flat spot atop the Great Divide. The views down both sides of the ridge are great, and you see back towards Lake Granby and Monarch Lake in the distance. The other side, the east, gives wonderful views looking down on Lake Isabella and Isabella Glacier. Keep in mind that the Brainard Lake area is a fee area in the summer time, and is very crowded. This makes the trails crowded and often unpleasent. During the off peak times of the year, the gate to Brainard Lake is closed at the junction to Left Hand Reservoir, and requires an additional 3 miles each way. My advice: do it on a weekday!
