Mt. Sherman
Mt. Sherman is often overlooked as a good climb because it is so simple. I did this climb from the Leadville side, not the Fairplay side. This trail is simple, following the Iowa Gulch up to the saddle between Sheridan and Sherman. Then it follows the same trail as the other route on the 0.9 mile traverse to the summit.
The summit has a broad shoulder to the east side which many people camp on before leaving on higher expeditions in the elevated ranges. The views of the Sawatch Range are great from Sherman, as are the views to the north. Sherman requires very little elevation gain and is great for beginners. If you haven't done this climb, I recommend it for the views alone!
