This is an enjoyable hike that begins about 15 miles west of Frasier. It involves a good trail all the way to the lake and only a small amount of elevation gain. I did this hike with Nancy, Dave (friend from work), and his wife. It only took around 2 hours to get to the lake, but we were taking our own sweet time. The total distance to the lake is a mere 3 miles. We got back to the lake and the weather wasn't all that enticing, but warm enough and clear enough to fish for a while. We fished for around 2 hours and didn't even get a bite! I tried everything I had in my tackle box and so did Dave. We could see the cutthroats swimming in the lake, gorgeous fish, but they just ignored everything we threw their way. It may have been because we got there late and they had already had breakfast. If you are looking for a hike with some great wildflowers, and I mean GREAT, this is the hike for you. Endless valleys of flowers and large groves of columbines span throughout the entire trip. At one point we came upon a field of columbines, there must have been about 500 of them all over, big and small patches. The other great part about the hike was the fact that we did it on a Sunday and we saw maybe about 10 people the entire time.
