May 21: Lewis-Francis wins race in Loughborough

Britain's latest sprint star, 17-year-old Mark Lewis-Francis, defeated European champion Darren Campbell and the Euro indoor 200m titlist Christian Malcolm in a domestic 100m race on Sunday. Lewis-Francis (Number 6) wins the race

Lewis-Francis ran the Olympic qualifying time with a personal record 10.25 seconds in blustery conditions at Loughborough with Campbell second and Malcolm third.

Although he looks likely to make the British Olympic squad, the teen-ager says his main goal is the World Junior Championships at Santiago, Chile in October.

"I'll be focusing on the World Junior Championship, that's where I know I can do well," he said. "The Olympics would be a bonus but I probably will only do the relay.

"This year's World Juniors will be my last opportunity to win the gold medal there whereas the Olympics will be around for many years to come."

Campbell clocked 10.30 seconds and Malcolm, the current World Junior 100m and 200m champion, crossed the line in 10.32.

May 12: Drummond highlights depleted 100 field

He wears only one sock during races. He postures better than many runway models. He talks. Goodness, he talks.

Jon Drummond likes to say his shtick rates "75 percent genuine enthusiasm and 25 percent game face."

We know this: 100 percent of the time, Drummond cannot be ignored.

Last year at the Modesto Relays, Drummond held court in the infield while Maurice Greene and Ato Boldon pursued a $200,000 prize. Which were faster - Drummond's words or Greene's feet - was debatable.
