Summer of Love ?
Sir, 1) I am now back in the land of real beer and sausages for a while (World Cup runners up to you), but will try to comment on anything worthwhile happening from a typical German perspective, so no fucking jokes - the German sense of humour is no laughing matter. The fact that I have retained my season tickets at the Bridge just shows that I am in serious need of something - I just don't know what ( A good kicking, perhaps ? - Ed) Also I haven't told her indoors yet, but I can foresee many a business trip on a Wednesday night coming up...2) The World Cup... yes, that sporting event where England got knocked out in the quarters and germany.. well you know the story. What you may not know is the fact that Rudi Voeller wasn't actually the manager of Germany, but was only a puppet on string.... The puppet master ? none other than George Graham, who perfected the art of playing crap while winning one-nil with the always cheating Arsenal. The similarities are uncanny: Chop them down in the middle of the park ... hoof the ball forward... wait for Ian Klose to stick his head in the way and fall over whenever an opposing player gets within 3 feet.. Gorgeous George, however, walked out before the final as he had been offered the kitman's job at three point lane; Germany decided that being Arsenal in disguise wasn't really what they wanted... what they wanted was to be universally loved, admired and forgiven, so they played glorious football, lost with style and came home heroes... who does that remind you of ?? Hint: I've heard on the grapevine that Germany will change their strip to BLUE in the forthcoming season and will play all home games at Stamford Bridge.. Klaus. |
