HIFK send TPS on a long journey home !

HIFK 7 Blues 2, 1999-04-14

A sold out(7980) HIFK home rink was steaming ahead of this one. There was revenge in the air and the fans did their part by keeping the noise level well above the allowed level for most of the game. What an athmosphere.

The players responded well and their treat was an overwhelming win in all aspects over TPS, renounced invincible almost, by the MTV3 commentators. It is an outrage that these guys are allowed to be this biased year in and year out.

PP was the decisive difference in this one HIFK scored 6 goals on the PP. Caloun (1+3), Rafalski (2+2) and Borsato (1+1) where the dominant players, but the wasn´t a weak link in this chain.

TPS lost because they couldn´t keep their composure, especially highly praised Aki Berg (who should have been ejected for highsticking Kalto) and Goalie Kiprusoff lost the game by getting too involved in the small skirmishes. They tried to be clever, but got the bone.

Many believe that this one has now turned in HIFK´s favor, but I say whoever wins Game 3 wins the Championship.
