Sunday we woke up and still no luggage. I knew the whole "Your bags will be there in a few hours" was a load of hatery crap! Plus conveniently enough, whenever we tried the so-called "delayed" baggage number, the line was either busy or we were put on incessant hold.... GRRRR...
At this point, having been told by the front desk that if we ever needed anything, just dial *2*, so we foisted the problem off on them... The people at the front desk *loved* us.. We called them for everything, and even had them close our broken umbrella for us, YAY!!
Ok, no luggage, so after obsessing for an endless amount of time over which of my 2 outfits I'd wear for the day, it was off to dance practice, wheeeee!!! The good thing about being around the corner from porno street was that it was a main busline. Dave, Fab & I were waiting for a particular bus when another bus pulled up to us, opened it's doors and refused to leave. So we got on, PML! Luckily it was going to PNE
Got to PNE in time to see the last group or 2 of the men's practices, mostly populated by the men who either didn't make it out of the qualifying rounds or the short program. Gregor Urbas from Slovenia was tiffin it pukka Wheeeee!!! I think Dave has a pic with him from later in the week LOL
Right before ice dance practices started, I called Sharon and told her where we were sitting so we could meet up. Unfortunately they ended up missing the first couple of groups, including Shae & Vic, who pretty much just practiced their bows and perky smiles to the roaring applause of the Canadian fans PML I love ice dance practice, so much more tiffin then the men's or any of the other disciplines -- full makeup and costumes , they bow constantly and skate around with perky smiles. YAY!! Of course being able to sit right by the ice on the judges is the best. Porny ice dancers close up YAY!!
Sometime during dance practice Dave disappeared for awhile. When he came back he told me he'd been talking with a great looking couple from the US who were sitting in the back of our section. Of course he'd been chatting up Naomi Lang and Peter Tchernyshev LOL I talked him out of going back up there and trying to talk about US politics (not politiks) and history with them.
Finally Sharon and Tara and Mandie showed up and sat right by us. I think they were in a void as I don't think they really said anything at first, so I perkily introduced myself. " Ice dance practice, YAY!!! You missed B & K They just kept gliding across the ice soaking up applause, wheeeee!!!"
They did make it in time to see the fab Euro teams and porny Peter. A scoop! D & V had switched back to Spente le Stelle!" I felt all insidery... Marina was quickly dubbed the practice princess, as she pretty much maintained excessive poise with a beatific smile for the crowd during the entire practice.
Practice over, I decided it was time to change my clothes before we met up with the others at the Pinnacle, of course I couldn't do that as I only had one more outfit, but at least I could tiff up my hair! It was harder to leave the PNE then it was to get there as there were no handy taxis, so after pointlessly wandering around in the rain for a bit, we hopped onto a random bus, which of course ended up right by our hotel. I was very jealous to later hear that Sharon and Tara had found a smoking bar, waaaaaahhhh!
Still no luggage when we returned so I tiffed up my hair, then we collected Fab's husband Rik and headed off for the Pinnacle. I was very sad, as it would have been the perfect opportunity to give Sharon & Tara their grits, but they were in my lost luggage :-(
According to Sharon's report, (LOL) there we met Laurie ( Is she the blonde one? I think i'm in a pic with her? LOL) Julie ( the brunette with short hair? Also in the pic with me?) and Sue. I'd totally recognise their faces in a lineup, but I admit I lost a few names. Was there an Amy there too? I know I accidentally called Jenny Amy later in the week for no apparent reason, eeek! LOL Everyone was great. Emma Abraham showed up a bit later ( she's in that pic, too LOL) I lurve Emma, she's very nice and randomly helpful and showed me the pic of Gwendal being delerious at the exhibition practices YAY!!!! Discovered delicious hard lemonade at the Pinnacle!
Then it was off to the Hyatt. There were industry types around, but not many skaters. But, it's a bit of a haze about who I saw when anyway . Sergei S was omnipresent all week, so I'm thinking I saw him... It was probably the biggest group of net types at joined together tables. Later in the week, it was pretty much the same group of usual suspects, but split off in random tables throughout the bar. Dave and the Belgians ate upstairs, while I tried to find a worthy substitute for hard lemonade.... Smirnoff Ice! Wheee!!!
The bar closed fairly early and they kicked us out :-(
Still no luggage at the hotel grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
