The day started early for me after the day ending very late the night before. To bed at 4am (I had to pack sometime!), up at 6:30am. Had to shower, put in all the last minute type things, try and find a jacket to take to Vancouver (a mystery since I had never been before and had no idea on the weather). Airways Transit to pick me up at 8am. It was supposed to be 8:30am but they'd called the night before when I was at work to say they'd be there half an hour earlier.
Just made it, bus driver was one of those know-it-all types, happily he was doing most of his chatting with a guy that was sitting in front of me. Had to laugh at the stupidity of the conversation, though I couldn't help myself when he started talking about computers, had to jump in there...I'm such a geek!
Got on the plane...also Air Canada (seems to be a trend!), sat beside an extremely unfriendly woman. Finally managed to get her to talk when we were landing in Vancouver. duh! Had my own problems with A.C., asked for pasta and they gave me chicken, called the lady back and told her, she gave me another, which was also chicken. Finally called the man over and HE got it right. LOL My pasta was very good...when I finally had it that is.
Arrived in Vancouver, waited half an hour for luggage to even start to appear, then longer for mine to show up. Hopped into a taxi and went to my hotel. Totally wonderful place, but the room was deserted...and no note. Typical! LOL
Decided to walk to the arena. Got there and it was ladies qualifying...zzzzzzz...sat in my seat and looked around and spotted nobody that I knew. Sat in a void till I saw Neil (Stars Fan) come in, didn't go say hello because he was busy talking to people that he was sitting by. I saw him out in the concourse later on and said hi. Blader friends showed up a bit later on so I went over and said hello to them, and gave them the banner they asked me to bring.
My aunts showed up finally, well, one of them did anyway, we watched the ladies then went for a walk up to see if I could find Sharps & Tara's seats. I KNEW they wouldn't be there for the ladies qualifying, but I thought if I knew where they were sitting then I could spy on them through the binoculars ;) Never did see them through the binocs.
Ladies were terrible, which I was expecting. Everyone good had either already skated or was in the other group. Pairs were much better. Although, I was exhausted and sat rather subdued till Kristy & Kris skated. It was quite strange to see Kristy do all the elements cleanly and have Kris mess them up, however, it was fantastic and they moved up BIG time in the standings. I have no idea of the placements. Went back into my void till it got to be 6pm when I had to make a phone call home. Went outside to do it. Missing the warm up for the final flight...figures, doesn't it? Cut the call short though to make sure I got back in time to see it all. EEEK, stress. YAY S&P!!
Afterwards I went upstairs to find Sharps and the Guv and did find them. We wandered downstairs to find Beth and Jenny, etc.. Decided to go to the Hyatt bar. Jenny didn't come but she joined us later. Arrived at the bar and immediately had Long Island Iced Teas, I declared that I needed food as I hadn't eaten in many hours, and we ordered some, and more drinks. Had the great earring caper, yay Beth!! And left about 1am.
Just as we were getting up to leave this rude asshole came over and started talking to us. Beth told him we were all there covering the skating as press types. (YAY, in the official! LOL) He asked where from, she rhymed off a few names of papers. He then said some extremely rude stuff and Beth told him to Fuck right off. He didn't and I walked out. I didn't see Sharon smack him, but...he was being just THAT rude. Bastard!
The other ladies caught a cab to the Pinnacle and I walked to my hotel.
Tried to get online to post about the earring caper, etc... but the laptop line wouldn't work. Grr! Called front desk, night man was an idiot. No computer for me, so I went to bed.
