Was staying in a two bedroom suite. I guess since I arrived last I got stuck with the pull out couch (which I knew was going to happen from the moment I heard there was one..typical!). So, I was awake very early at the sounds of one aunt or another in the kitchen making coffee. grr! Got up and got ready to go off to see the OD. Didn't want to miss any of those. On the way out I talked to the day time front desk type and she set my laptop line up so I could use it. YAY!
Got to the rink and watched the OD's. Loved B&K's, hated FP&M's, was diappointed in A&P's and D&V's, liked L&A's. Also loved L&T whom I've never liked before. OMG Marina and Scary Babs were deleriously bright in their dresses. Marina looked like a traffic cone (good description...not my own, I must admit!), and Babs looked...well...like..I can't even think of anything polite. ;) They were much brighter than they look on TV.
Went to Skatefest inbetween, had yummy lunch on the patio of the restaurant over there. Drank some sort of delicious peach wine cooler type thing with my nachos. Ate in record time and managed to only miss the first skater and half of the second.
Men's free skate after that. I adore Yags and loved when he started changing his choreography. YAY! :) Do hope he's better in time for April 21st when I go to SOI. Sandhu was great and ended up 5th in the free skate, and 9th overall. He was so great. Plushy definitely deserved to win. But I wanted Timmy to have the bronze medal. (Have never been much of a Todd fan)
Afterwards met Sharon, Tara, Beth, Jenny & Neil. I decided to stay and watch free dance practice with Neil so we could see Shae & Vic. The only TT team to show up was C&S who were late onto the ice. TT sat waiting for them looking increasingly pissed off. They came on, skated their FD which we were PMLing over (because they were crap (on the practice, I love their FD)) and left. TT did NOT look amused. Met up with the Blader friends again and sat with them. We decided that since B&K weren't there to skate to March with Me that we'd do it instead. LOL!! People on the other side of the arena yelled Encore when we were finished!!!
I went to the Hyatt to find Sharon and Tara outside having a fag and talking to Fran. Sharon was dishing the 25 most influential beings in skating to Fran so she could post them. Went inside and sat with Mandie as Sharon & Tara were upstairs at the swanky IFS party. Wasn't downstairs long when Tara came looking for us and up we went. Saw Roz Sumners in her ball gown and immediately felt waaaay under-dressed. Had many drinks, and then didn't care anymore! :) Heard last call and we went and stocked up at the bar. Sat drinking when Tara & Meghan wandered off. Sharon quickly followed. Looked up and saw them chatting up John Zimmerman. They came back and told me they'd been telling him about how he'd been runner up in the porny skater contest this year but that they were buying the bloc for him next year.
Then they were gone again and talking to Emmanuel Sandhu. I decided at that point that I was the Canadian so I should be up there talking too. Got there to discover that they were almost done with him. We wandered off on our way outside so they could have a cigarette when we spotted Zhulin and made a beeline for him. We talked to him for a loooong time. He laughed at the Old Wych comment, and played innocent when Sharon asked him if PPT and Naomi were back together. She then told him that Peter had been smoking last year in Nice and he said that he was going to give Peter trouble for that! LOL It was amusing. Tom Collins came over then and Tara and I tried to convince him to come to Canada and London. He told me he'd never bring the tour to Canada again because he'd had it here once in 1987 and had a poor turn out. LOL!! Talk about holding a grudge.
The party types politely asked us to leave...they wanted to close, so downstairs we went to the bar and had another drink. Mandie and I bought them while the others went out for a cigarette. I wandered out to find them after a while and ended up smoking with them. Eek! Came back in, drank the drinks, Tara spilled Meghans all over Meghan...poor dear! The bar closed on us...voidy doors that just automatically closed at 2am when they stopped serving drinks! Sharon was trying to talk Kristy & Kris Wirtz into coming to the Crime Lab with us but Kris had to decline because he had an early tee off time in the morning. Someone was saying how they didn't like golf and Kris said you had to be good to like golf. I piped up saying that I loved golf and I suck. Kris looks at me and says "is that one statement or two?" Being in a deleriously drunken state I have a vague memory of saying something like "both". But I really have no idea. (eek! LOL)
Meghan's lovely husband Dave took us to the Crime Lab where I ordered a wonderful martini that had a cranberry in it. I had no idea what it was called, and ended up spilling half of it all over me, but...it was yummy. (Have discovered since originally writing this that it was called a Fingerprint) Smoked more cigarettes...I was told the next day that I was a regular chain smoker! LOL Ended up sitting at the bar alone talking to the guys up there, met the lovely Jackson and talked to him for a while about...well, I have no clue to be honest. Sharon joined me and we talked for a while. Ended up leaving...umm...late. 4:30amish? Couldn't possibly walk as I could barely stand, so I took a taxi back to my hotel. I got there and had to negotiate the entrance door, then the elevator on the way up. Couldn't get the first one I tried to work, so I tried another, that one worked LOL got to my room, threw up, and went to bed.
