The North Hunterdon Midget Team participated in the 1997 Blairstown invitational tournament. This was a Team Tournament, in which wrestlers from teams are entered into age and weight classes, and team points are given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers, as well as bonus points for pins and advancement.
North only sent 19 wrestlers into the tournament, with no wrestlers in the 8 and under division. Even so, the North wrestlers performed well enough to take second place overall.
