[Team Roster] [1977 Season] [Memorabilia]

In 1977 millions of people lined city blocks to see a  new movie called "Star Wars", danced to ABBA and other disco hits, watched "Happy Days" on television, the New York Yankees won the World Series, and in Seattle baseball fans saw the Mariners take the field for the first time.

The current Seattle Mariners have direct ties to the old Pilots. Due to the lawsuit filed by the city, Seattle eventually landed another club. By March of 1973 Seattle was promised a shot at another expansion team as long as they dropped their pending lawsuit. There was only one problem; Major League Baseball didn't know when the next expansion would be. Not wanting to wait indefinitely, Seattle looked for an established team to move into the newly completed Kingdome. On February 6, 1976, the city was given another chance. The American League was adding two teams: Seattle and Toronto.
