The Mariners will have an extensive radio and television network, designed to bring the excitement if major league baseball to the entire Northwest.

The radio network lists 26 stations, while the television network includes KING-TV, Seattle; KREM-TV, Spokane; KGW-TV, Portland; KNDO-TV, Yakima; KNDU-TV, Tri-Cities; KENI-TV, Anchorage; and KFAR-TV, Fairbanks.


1977 Media Guide

Dave Niehaus and Ken Wilson form the Mariners broadcast team and will handle play-by-play duties on both radio and television.

Niehaus joins the Mariners play-by-play team after handling a similar assignment for the California Angels since 1969. The versatile Niehaus also broadcast Los Angeles Rams football from 1966 through 1973 and UCLA football and basketball from 1973 through 1976.

Wilson spent the past two and one-half years in Honolulu, where he was employed by KGU radio and additionally handled the week-end sports assignments on KHON-TV.

His background includes the play-by-play assignment for Hawaii Islanders baseball from 1970 through 1972 and serving as the announcer for the Cincinnati Swords in the American Hockey League from 1972 through 1974.

The Mariners will broadcast 170 games on radio, all 162 regular season games and eight spring training contests, and 17 road games on television.
