On August 19, 1992, the Seattle Mariners purchased Bret Boone from their AAA farm team - the Calgary Cannons. That night in Baltimore he made his Major League debut, and history. Bret became a member of the first three-generation family in Major League history (along with his father Bob and grandfather Ray). The young Boone started at second base and collected an RBI single in his first at bat off of Arthur Rhodes.

Promoted earlier that same season by the Mariners as a future Hall of Famer, on November 3, 1992, Bret was traded (along with pitcher Erik Hanson) to Cincinnati for pitcher Bobby Ayala and catcher Dan Wilson.
