PUG KING X

The year 2000 started out great with a SAFE and exciting PUG X!

And what an exciting event it was with a full card of the 6 veterans and 2 newcomers, Billy Rasch from Hiawatha Park and Dan Moga, the Romanian National Wrestler. Now - right to the results......

It went like this:

1st Quarterfinal Match - Ed Heise defeated Pete Gil by rear choke in 7:09. Eddie entered the event at the last minute as a result of the chants "ED-DY ... ED-DY ... ED-DY". Eddie used his patented "spin-o-rama" taking Gil to the ground where Ed had Gil's back. Eddie stayed with Pete, put the hooks in, and extended his back for the tap.

2nd Quarterfinal Match - Dan Moga defeated Tom Rasch by cranial pressure in 2:13. Dan, with his Greco Roman wrestling background advanced forward and locked up Rasch. After taking Rasch down, he mounted and applied enormous pressure to Rasch's head for the tap.

3rd Quarterfinal Match - Tom Stanonis defeated Alex Sampra by rear choke in 52 seconds. Initially, Stanonis got caught in a head lock for the take down but was able to break loose and take Alex's back to sink in the choke for the tap.

4th Quarterfinal Match - Dave Naughton defeated Billy Rasch by side neck crank in 41 seconds. Dave caught Billy with his strong hold while standing. Billy tapped after being taken to the mat.

1st Semifinal Match - Dan Moga defeated Eddie Heise after verbal resignation in 49 seconds. Eddie caught Dan in a guillotine as Dan came in. Eddie pulled Dan down into his half-guard. Eddie released the hold after being gassed and resigned.

2nd Semifinal Match - Tom Stanonis defeated Dave Naughton by arm key-lock from the mount in 40 minutes. The first 20 minutes of the match saw many takedown attempts by Stanonis with most being negated by Naughton, and many headlock attempts by Naughton. Naughton was able to mount Stanonis only to be stood up after the two grappled off the mat. At 20 minutes, Dave the Marathon Man was going strong while Stanonis was obviously tired and went willfully to the mat. Stanonis was able to get Naughton into his guard and reverse to the mount while the referee mopped up the sweat from Stanonis. In the mount, Stanonis caught Naughton's arm for the tap.

PUG KING Final - Dan Moga defeated Tom Stanonis by side neck crank at 4:04. There was a 30 minute rest after Tom's previous match - Tom was ready to go - and so was Dan "THE PRESSMAN". Dan again pulled Tom close while standing and took Tom down only to find that Tom had Dan's back. Dan rolled out of it but Tom held on getting Dan in his half guard although Dan had Tom's neck. Dan broke the half-guard and went to side mount and ended the match with a side neck crank for the tap.

Congratulations to Dan Moga - PUG KING X !!!! - He's got the BUCKLE !!!!!!

We are glad to have Dan as are new PUG KING - He is going to be tough to submit and even tougher to avoid.
