Shortly after the start Myers Park junior Julia Lassiter-Lucas is already
leaving behind Mount Tabor's Ginger Wheeler and Watauga's Kristen Stroupe.
Wheeler ran 18:29.1 for 3rd and Stroupe 18:41.4 for 5th.
Keira Carlstrom, a junior from Oakton HS, Vienna, VA
was 2nd in the Invitational division in 18:11.1.
Leaders in the Boys Invitational race just after the first mile, include
Matt Maline (Oakton HS, Vienna, VA), and Apex junior Wes Boone (#132).
Boone ran 15:59.6 for 4th. Maline won in 15:08.7, breaking the meet record of
15:10.5 set in 1999 by Watauga's Ricky Brookshire.
Leading the Boys 3-A race is #145 John Henderson (North Henderson)
who won with a 16:01.5.
T.C. Roberson sophomore Tracy Boyer ran 20:15.2
for 11th in the 3-A race, helping her team to a 57 - 74 win over North Buncombe.
Gastonia Ashbrook's Garrett Davis
ran 16:10.1 to place 2nd in the boys Open division.
