1997 3A Boys State Champions -- Havelock
Havelock won their first ever state cross-country title. Members of the 1997 3A Boys State Championship team are (in order of finish): Edward Roman (17:03), Teddy Neuhaus (17:07), Ricardo Bell (17:12), Justin Hall (17:21), Hardy Waddell (17:32), Jon Maucci (17:34), and Jeff Heller (18:15).
Roman is a senior, Neuhaus, Bell, Hall, and Waddell juniors, Heller a sophomore, and Maucci a freshman.
1997 was the 12th year that the state 3A cross-country meet has been run, and this was the first time a school other than Sun Valley or Franklin had won the boys championship.
