Kings acquire Donald Audette from Buffalo for a 2nd round pick in the 1999 draft.  Now we have to sign him.

The Kings recalled Manny Legace and Pavel Rosa today from the Long Beach Ice Dogs.  Stephane Fiset injured his right groin during practice and is listed day-to-day.   Eric Lacroix was placed on injured reserve.

Rob Blake was suspended for three games without pay and fined $1,000 for his slash on Vancouver's Harry York.  Blake was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for his teo-handed slash that struck York in the forearm. at 4:15 of the third period.  He is eligible to return on Dec 20th.

Ryan Bach got his first NHL start tonight against the Calgary flames.  Although we lost, Ryan looked pretty good in goal.

Rob Blake broke his foot Oct 30th against Tampa Bay.  He will be out for 6-8 weeks.

Olli Jokinen was recalled from Springfield.  Olli played 9 games and had three goals and six assists.

The Kings traded Roman Vopat and a 6th round draft pick in 1999 to Colorado Avalanche for Eric Lacroix.  It was an emotional news conference for Pierre Lacroix, Colorado GM and Eric's father.  Lacroix has played seven games this year.  He has no points and two penalty minutes.  Vopat played three games this year.  He has no points and six penalty minutes.

Warren Weibe, who could get the Forum crowd going during his 'America the Beautiful', was found dead in his apartment on Sunday.  It was an apparent suicide.  Warren was 44.  He will be missed.

The Kings shutout New Jersey, but lost Stephane Fiset to injury for the second time this season.  Stephane who had a shutout going, pulled himself out of the game in the second period.  Manny took over and continued the shutout.  This is the second combined shutout in team history.  The first was Feb 20, 1980, Mario Lessard and Doug Keans had a 3-0 win over Boston.

Manny Legace continues to stand on his head (and any other part of his body) to make the saves and keep the Kings in games.  If the skaters would do the same, we might win a few games by more than one goal.

Manny Legace recorded his first NHL win when Sandy Moger scored with less than three minutes left in regulation.  It was Moger's first goal after having two goals called back this season.

Ryan Bach played his first NHL game tonight against the Lightning.  Manny Legace who started Wed against the Panthers was injured when Darcy Tucker bombarded the net and plowed into him.  Although we lost, Ryan played well considering he was hit twice by Tucker, and shaken up a bit.  No word on Stephane or Jamie yet.

The Kings acquired goaltender Ryan Bach from the Detroit Red Wings to backup Manny Legace.  Bach, born Oct. 21, 1973 in Sherwood Park, Alberta, is 6'1'' 180 lbs.   Manny is expected to start tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Manny was outstanding against the Florida Panthers, allowing only one goal on 50 shots.  Alexey Volkov was returned to Halifax Mooseheads.

Manny Legace played in his first NHL game against the Florida Panthers, and he was awesome!  He faced 50 shots and made 49 saves.  Defense... what defense??
Stephane Fiset is on the trip, but Jamie Storr is on injured reserve for at least a week.  Alexey Volkov was recalled as backup to Manny.

Both Stephane Fiset AND Jamie Storr were injured in the game against Colorado at the Forum.  It's not known at this how long either will be out, and Manny Legace is most certainly going to be joining the team on this road trip.  Updates as they become available.

The Kings signed Jamie Storr to a three year contract.  Jamie says it's worth a little over $3 million.

The agent for restricted free agent Aki Berg said that the 21 year old defenseman has signed a one year contract with TPS, his former team in his native Finland.  There is a clause in his contract that would allow him out of the Finnish deal if he signs with the Kings by Sept 30, although his agent says that chances are slim that he would return to the Kings this season.

Rob Blake signed a three-year, $15.8 million contract, the richest in league history for a defenseman.  The contract includes Blake renting a luxury box for three years worth $652,500 at the Staples Center.  The box will be donated to charity.

The Kings open training camp today without Rob Blake.  As of today, he is officially considered a holdout.  The Kings have offered him $25 million for 5 years.  He is reportedly seeking $10 million more for the 5 years.
Steve McKenna has been signed to a one year deal, but Aki Berg returned home to Finland on Saturday, not close to a deal.  Matt Johnson and Jamie Storr remain unsigned.
Dan Bylsma (foot surgery) and Jason Morgan (knee tendinitis) will not skate today.

The Kings have hired Cammi Granato, captain of the U.S. women's Olympic hockey team, as their new radio commentator.  Cammi will work alongside play-by-play announcer Nick Nickson on the new flagship station KRLA.  Cammi will make her debut on Sept 19, when the Kings play against the Avalanche in Las Vegas.

The Kings traded defenseman Doug Zmolek to the Chicago Blackhawks for a third-round draft pick in the 1999 NHL entry draft.  They don't need him because they have Steve Duchesne and Doug Bodger.

The Kings signed defenseman Jaroslav Modry to a one year deal.  He's been playing with the Utah Grizzlies.

The Kings signed goaltender Alexey Volkov with a three year entry-level contract.  He will be at training camp.

The Kings announced their plans to build a practice facility in
El Segundo for themselves and the Lakers.  The facility will have a restaurant, pro shop, ticket outlet and entertainment center.

After 15 years in the NHL, former King and fan favorite, Kelly Hrudey announced his retirement.  He said he has reached a three year deal with the CBC to provide commentary for hockey games.  I knew my satellite would come in handy one day!

The Kings claimed Frederic Chabot off waivers from the Nashville Predators.  Chabot, 30 was selected by the Predators in the NHL expansion draft.

Kings signed defenseman Sean Blanchard, their fourth-round draft pick in 1997, to a three year deal.

Dan Bylsma underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot.  He is expected to be recovered by the first day of training camp.
