About Me:

Obviousely you cared enough to click here so here goes...

The basics: My real name is Jenni (BOB has been my nickname since I was about four), I am 19 years old; I currently live in Grand Junction, CO although I was born in Ogallala, Nebraska (yes the Ogallala near Lake Mac).
I am a freshman at Mesa State College (in Grand Junction). I graduated from Fruita Monument H.S., our mascot was the Wildcats, and our logo was like that of the Kansas State Wildcats'... only the FMHS logo is blue, not puss purple, and the refs don't feel pity for our team. On an odd note: Fruita, Colorado is also the home of Mike the Headless Chicken, and yes - it's real, frightening, but real. FMHS came 5 points away (and 8 yards away) from capturing their first state championship since the '60s. But its depressing that they lost so I won't say anything else here. Speaking of the '60s, I'm convinced that I was a hippy in a former life. This helps to explain my love for the music and clothes of the era. Give me The Mama & the Papas, The Who, The Doors, and especially The Beatles over n'sync, the back street boys, and brittney spears (non of which deserve capitalization) any day- even if that day was was over three decades ago. And you can throw in some Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly for good measure.
Anyway, I am very interested in US and 20th Century history, specifically the Titanic disaster - my interest started before the movie, and I'm not one of those annoying "oh it's Leo!" people whose IQ level rivals that of the spice girls. The American Revolution is also an interest. I consider myself to be a patriotic person and I was proud to excersize my 26th amendment right ("The right of US citizens 18 years of age and older to vote shall not be denied or abridged...") in November of 2000.
I have a 24 year old sister who thinks that my love for sports is "psychotic" yet when telling her friends about me always mentions that my "vast" knowledge of the subject is amazing considering the fact that I'm a girl. She tells them I'm an Avs fan, they smile. She says I'm a Husker fan and anger arises. I figure if they ask I'll tell 'em, I don't like to provoke trouble as I am very aware that I would lose an ass-kicking contest. And then there's my room, the tourist attraction. When my parentals give the traditional tours of the house to relatives or friends the main attraction / freak show always seems to be my room. To put it simply you cannot see my wall, posters, pennants, and momentos litterally cover my room. I call it my collection, almost everyone collects something, whether they do it consciously or not, and I collect Huskers / Avs memorabilia. I even have old, unopened Coca-Cola bottles from 1975, and a neon light that says "Huskers" in cursive, it is only turned on on Friday nights and Saturdays during the football season... so I guess I am a psycho... but don't most Nebraskans have a mental condition when it comes to football? Of course. I don't really have anything like that with the Avs but when my Huskers lose or the Avalanche lose in the playoffs I become unsocial and depressed for at least a day depending on how big the loss was.

Favorite Players: Huskers: Tommie Frazier - 'nuff said / Colorado Avs: Peter Forsberg - Simply amazing, grabs a guy with one arm, directs the puck with the other and makes ticker-tape passes even with guys hanging all over him. Both were / are simply amazing in what they do respectively.

My Personalities:

Me as Avs BOB - I became an Avs fan in about March of there first season in Denver. Before I was really interested I remember hearing (in December) about this new hockey team in Colorado that had just traded for this guy who's name was Patrick Roy. R-O-Y and it's pronounced WAH? What was that? Oh, well I only sort of cared at the time. But after watching only a few games I was hooked immediately, but I remember thinking, if they have to play Detroit in the playoffs.. they're gonna lose, and that "fact" didn't bother me until the playoffs started because the reallity that this team had a legitimate chance of winning the Stanley Cup had just dawned on me. So they beat the Canucks, then they beat the Blackhawks, then came the Red Wings... this was of course before it became -The Avalanche Vs. The Red Wings: the meanest and bloodiest rivalry in North America. It was only the new Avalanche vs the best team ever in regular season play-the Redwings. And after 6 games the amazing happened... the Avs won... they were going to play Floorida (spelling intended) for the most beautiful trophy in the world. I remember watching Game 4, triple overtime, 0-0 score, and neither goalie could be beaten. Until Uwe Krupp's seemingly innocent shot from a distance flew past "beezer" and into the back of the net and all the Avs threw off their gloves, leaped into the air and piled on top of eachother, and it was all over. (by the way, if anyone has a tape of the actual game I would love to know how to attain a copy). In 1999 I attended my first Avs game, April 3rd against Edmonton (Avs won 5-3). The experiance is one I will never forget, it was a great game and much better than watching on TV. With the 2001 All-Star game being in Denver it was a perfect opportunity for my first solo road-trip. A close friend and I attended the All-Star Practice and FANtasy. It was the first time either of us had been inside The Pepsi Center and it is a site to see. Since then I've attended a game vs Minnesota and Game 1 vs the Canucks in 2001. I understand that many fans go to just about every Avs home game- for me just going to one game a year is extremely special. Long Live the Avs!

Me as Husker BOB - I am a fan of the Huskers for an obvious reason... I was born in Nebraska. Actually I did not recieve my Husker fan Calling until I had lived in Colorado for 4 1/2 years. It happened in 1994, specifically Jan. 1st, 1994, Husker fans may recognize the date as "Nebraska vs. Florida State: The Final Blow!" -Don't get me started on ref's, especially not after the 1998 K-State game. I can still see Byran Bennett's kick going wide left, and hearing the announcer's words: "...and he hooks it left, Florida State wins." That loss got me hooked for life. During the 1994 "Unfinished Business" campaign I remember hearing about Frazier's season ending, I figured that that meant the Husker's season was over as well, thankfully Brook Berringer was the back-up, and after that we all know what happened. In 1995 I attended my first and second football games. One Saturday morning in late November my father woke me up and said, "hey, ya want to go to a Husker game?" The Huskers were playing the Buffies in Boulder that day. So we went, bought some tickets from some Buffers (CU fans) and watched Ahman Green score a TD on Nebraska's first offensive play of the game, and then saw the Huskers beat up on the Buffies 44-21. Before the game we watched Lee Corso and Craig James both pick Nebraska. The Buff fans were mad but they've been disgruntled for a while now anyway. I went to Memorial Stadium later that year to watch the Huskers spank the Sooners 37-0 in what was the last Big 8 game ever played. My father and I attend at least one game each year, in '96 we saw the Huskers vs the Buffs once again. In '97 we watched the Huskers spank Texas Tech 27-0 at the Homecoming game, but what I will never forget is what happened the day before the game. My dad and I "snuck" into the stadium and watched practice. There we met John Payne (Husker '98 Media Guide pg. 74) a regent from Kearney. He asked us, to our surprise, if we wanted to see the 2 (now 3) Sears' National Championship Trophies. So as we're walking over to the entrance Mr. Payne yells, "Hey Scott, come here." My dad and I look over to see Scott Frost jogging over to us, and Mr. Payne explained to him that "these folks came all the way from Colorado to see you." I don't know what world I was in when that happened but I don't think it was this one. When we finally went inside the stadium my father and I walked into the... excuse me, THE World Class weight room and met Mike Arthur ('98 Media Guide pg. 62). --I know that this may not seem like anything to many of you who live in Nebraska but being so far away from Huskerland I don't go there very often. We then went up to see the trophies and missed meeting Tom Osborne by only a couple minutes, but we walked around in his office and saw his numerous trophies and momentos, it was just amazing. Mr. Payne left us alone to roam around "The Hall of Champions" where we met Mike Osborne, Tom's son. The Hall of Champions was unbelievable, Orange Bowl trophies, Tom Novak's, Tommie Frazier's and Zach Wiegert's jerseys, just amazing. In 1999 we attended the KSU game, where KSU learned the lessons of sweet Revenge; and the CU game, the first time I saw the missed 34 yard FG was back at the hotel in Denver, I just couldn't force myself to look up during the game until I heard people around me yelling "He Missed! He Missed!"... oh well. In 2000 we again attended the CU game. At least our kicker understands the concept of a "Game Winning Field Goal."
