Gretzky's number 99 was retired by the NHL.
Wayne Gretzky assisted on Brian Leetch's second-period power-play goal, but Jaromir Jagr's overtime goal gave the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday in Gretzky's final game.

Gretzky, who announced his retirement on Friday, totaled 894 goals, 1,963 assists and 2,857 points in 1,487 NHL games.

During a pre-game ceremony, the NHL officially retired Gretzky's No. 99. "When you take off that sweater, your jersey, after today's game, you will be the last player in the NHL to ever wear 99," said Commissioner Gary Bettman.
