WARRIORS

98 Conference Champs!!!

HELLO!! Welcome to my rezbaseball page! This page is going to preview all six 1998 3A North Conference Baseball teams. I will include Tuba City's High School Schedule and Team Results, High School Standings and Picks, Rez's Top 3 Teams, and Arizona's Top 10 Teams.

I come from Tuba City, Arizona. A small town in Northern Arizona. We have two high schools in our town and I go to Tuba City High Schoool. Tuba is also located on the Navajo Reservation, so most of the students are Native American. Our baseball program has been pretty successful in the past 5 years. We've won or came in runner-up in the Conference Championships most of the time, and we've consistently made state playoff appearances.

The six teams in our conference are the: Tuba City Warriors, Monument Valley Mustangs, Ganado Hornets, Window Rock Scouts, Grey Hills Knights, and the St. Johns Redskins replacement: Pinon Eagles.

Well this year, during the 1998 baseball season, the Tuba City Warriors recaptured the 3A North Conference Championship with an unblemished 10-0 conference record and 20-8 overall record. It was a very exciting season for the Warriors, but it all ended in the first round of the State Playoffs again. The Warriors beat the Monument Valley Mustangs in 2 games for the conference championship, 15-4 and 12-2. Another one of their many 5 inning 10-run rule games. They entered the State Tournament as the #1 seed from the North and played Fountain Hills, the current 1998 Homerun Hitting, record breaking team. Their hopes of advancing past the first round were ended by Fountain Hills. Monument Valley faced Globe in the tournament and lost, and Window Rock faced Cave Creek Cactus Shadows and lost. Once again, all 3 rez teams were eliminated from the tournament.

There were many personal acheivements on the team. But, only 6 players could be selected to the All-Conference Teams. These players were:

Mike Yazzie(Sr.) 1st base- 3A North Conference Player of the Year
Kino Reed(Sr.) outfeild- 1st Team All-Conference
Kyle Hemstreet(Jr.) infield- 1st Team All-Conference
Markus Allan(Jr.) catcher- 1st Team All-Conference
Joshua Allan(Fr.) pitcher- 2nd Team All-Conference
Chris Blackhair(Sr.) 3rd baseman- 2nd Team All-Conference
Floyd Manygoats(Jr.) outfield- Honorable Mention
