SECTION I: The Draft

Each franchise will draft to fill a twenty player squad. The positions, number drafted, and number of starters are listed below. Your franchise must maintain twenty players at all times though your floater may change positions through waivers or trades. The draft order will be determined one week prior to the draft in a random draw. Number of Players Starters on each Franchise: # DRAFTED POSITION: # OF STARTERS 3........Quarterback (QB)....................1 5........Running Back (RB)...................2 5........Wide Receiver (WR)..................3 2........Tight End (TE)......................1 2........Kicker (K)..........................1 2........Defensive/Special Teams (DT)........1 1........Floater (Any Position Above) ====== ====== 20 9

SECTION II: The Season

Once your team has been established it is the franchise owners responsibility to maintain starting line ups, waiver moves(Section V), player trades (Section VI), injured reserve (Section VII), and any other day to day operations of your franchise. Starting line ups must be in before the first game of the week kicks off. If a team doesn't call to make any line up changes then their starting line up will remain the same from the previous week.

SECTION III: The A.F.F.L. Championship

The league championship is determined by your starting teams total points for the season based on the A.F.F.L. scoring system (Section IV). Payouts will be made to the top three finishers in the league based on the following percentages: 50% - First Place Total Points 25% - Second Place Total Points 10% - Third Place Total Points 5% - Highest Weekly Score of the Season 10% - League Dues

SECTION IV: A.F.F.L. Point Scoring System

SECTION V: Waivers

Waivers give each franchise the ability to pick up any player that is a free agent in the league. All waiver moves are on a weekly basis and are accomplished by contacting the league commissioner. But in a case that two teams try to pick up the same player in the same week, the player will go to the franchise with the most seniority. The weekly waiver deadline is the earlier of Thursday at 9:00 p.m. or kickoff of the first game of the week! Thus, to start a waiver pick up on Sunday you must have picked him up prior to the Thursday deadline. The reverse draft order number determines franchise seniority, but once you pick up any player off of wavers your franchise drops to the bottom of the list. If you pick up two players you must indicate to the commissioner which player has your highest priority. Note there is also a waiver deadline that will occur at the end of week 13.

SECTION VI: Trades

Any player may be traded from one franchise to another in any number of trade possibilities. The trades may be 1 for 1, 2 for 1, or 3 for 1. If a franchise makes a 2 for 1 trade remember they must waive a player on their franchise to open a roster position. All trades must be finalized by contacting the league commissioner and gaining his approval of the trade. The trading deadline is the end of the 9th week of the season. This is to prevent late season problems with a franchise dumping from a non-contender to a contender.

SECTION VII: Injured Reserve

Any player may be placed on injured reserve provided the player is inactive for the week. This will then allow you a roster position to pick up an other player off of waivers with out losing the rights to the player on I.R., however, once the player has returned from I.R. you are left with two alternatives. (1) Waive a player from your franchise and bring your player off I.R. and onto your franchise. -or- (2) do not bring the player back to your franchise by waiving his rights. If you waive his rights the player is a free agent and could be pick up by any other franchise. **NOTE** If you use Waivers or Trades your franchise must maintain 20 positions ONLY! No more and no less than 20. Your floating player may change positions, but your base 19 players must be maintained.

SECTION VIII: Player Retention

(I) Declaration: Starting after the A.F.F.L. 1997 season franchises may elect to retain up to three players for the following season. The declaration of your three players will take place prior to the A.F.F.L. draft order selection. Between the declaration day and start of the draft you may not change any of your three players but you may trade or release any of the three to opening up a draft slot. (II) Players: The three players to retain must be on your prior year ending roster (active or I.R.). The players can not have an original draft status of a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick. The player may only be retained twice for a maximum of a three-season franchise life. This is to ensure that the top players are recycled into the draft. (III) Draft Status: Once a player is deemed retained that franchise looses one draft pick higher (max 1st & min 15th round) each year the player is retained. Thus, if the America Dreams elect to retain Jeff Wilkins drafted in the sixth round in 1997, they must give up a fifth round pick in 1998, and if still retained in 1999 a fourth round pick will be surrendered. This makes Wilkins unretainable for the 2000 draft and he must be in the 2000 draft pool. If due to trades or waivers (listed below) you want to retain two players with the same draft round status you must give up that round and one pick higher, but there draft status can not exceed a 1st round (max) status. Thus, if two players have a 10th round status, to retain both you must surrender a 10th round and a ninth round pick even though for the following draft the will both be deemed to of been drafted in the 10th round. Or, if you have two players with a second round draft status this year you may only retain one player next year because to retain both would mean giving up a 1st round and a (+1st) round pick which does not exist. (IV) Waivers: Acquisition and deadlines of players is based under the league rules (Section V). Any undrafted player picked up off waivers may be retained for two seasons, however, you must give up a 15th round pick (the min) the following year and a 14th round pick the succeeding year. If the player was drafted that year and dropped by one franchise then later pick up by another, then the players draft status (years saved and round drafted) is retained by the new franchise. (V) Player Trades: Acquisition and deadlines of players is based under the league rules (Section VI). When a player is traded from one team to another the players draft status (years saved and round drafted) is also traded. Thus, you receive a player in a trade that has been retained for one year; the player can be retained by your franchise for the remainder of that season and one more season. No trades can be made for players after the trade deadline until after the declaration of players is made, prior to the following years draft. (VI) Injured Reserve: Players based upon the rules in (Section VII). Any player that is on injured reserve at season’s end may be retained under the base rules listed above.
