Boghossian scores the winner!
Here's what I wrote to the Parma list!

Half-time: Milan 0 Parma 0

Well, I'm "watching" this game! The swines have scrambled it! But what happened to Buffon's hair?!?! It looks a good game (missed the beginning; was watching Real Madrid, unscrambled!) It appears though that Milan had probably the best of the first half of the half, with Buffon making good saves and our defence playing well. It seems Di Vaio had a great shot saved towards the end of the half though, when we had the better of the play. We're certainly giving this a good go. And Ortega is working hard! He had a chance to score right near the end, but the ball drifted wide of the post and then, just after, Crespo really maybe should've scored from close range (although he was off-side anyway! :)) Someone then had a good free-kick, but I'm not even sure who it was! Fuser, I think! But I'm sorry, can't work out much at all! Looking quite good though. Where is Vanoli?? :(

Milan 1 (Guli 53) Parma 2 (Crespo 65, Boghossian 94)

We can't stop winning trophies!!! Great start for the season! Look out Rangers!

Vanoli finally came on on 58' for Serena and it was his cross which led to Crespo's goal. Torrisi replaced Lassissi on 72'. Lassissi went off limping and was last seen having his calf massaged. Benarrivo came on on 85' for Fuser (who didn't have much of a game). Buffon made two remarkable saves during the half - and then, Boghossian looped a header (I think!) over Rossi on 94'. The ball seemed to take forever to cross the line. But a super result! :)

Forza Parma!

Says it all, I think!

Boghossian strike lifts Parma

Reuters MILAN, Italy -- Frenchman Alain Boghossian's injury-time winner gave Parma a dramatic 2-1 win over AC Milan in the Italian Supercup at the San Siro on Saturday.

Parma came from behind to remind Glasgow Rangers of the strength of opposition they face in the second leg of their European Champions' League qualifier in Parma in midweek. The game, the traditional curtain-raiser to the new Italian season, was a highly competitive encounter, with both sides showing the qualities which brought them honors last season, and make them among the title favorites again this season. Defending Serie A champion Milan, playing with a three-pronged attack of Oliver Bierhoff, George Weah and Andriy Shevchenko, enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges. In the ninth minute Shevchenko broke down the right and found Bierhoff with a neat pass, but the German's firm shot was blocked by Parma goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Seven minutes later, Bierhoff had another excellent chance but stumbled in front of the goal, failing to make the most of an excellent cross from Argentine Andres Guglielminpietro. Parma quickly responded, and striker Marco Di Vaio, signed from Salernitana in the offseason, came close with a diving header which Milan goalkeeper Sebastiano Rossi did well to keep out. Rossi was stretched again in the 35th minute as he tipped over a dangerously looping volley from Hernan Crespo. Parma went close twice before the break, but it was Milan which opened the scoring in the 54th minute. Massimo Ambrosini's left-wing cross was headed unselfishly back across the face of goal by Bierhoff, and Guglielminpetro found the target from close range. Parma continued to cause Milan problems, and it was no suprise when they drew level in the 66th minute, as Paolo Vanoli's superb cross from the left was met by Crespo and the Argentine's firm header flew past Rossi. Niether side looked content to settle for a draw and a penalty shootout. As Milan pushed forward, Bierhoff's efforts were again foiled when he headed straight at Buffon after another excellent cross from Ambrosini. But it was Parma which would claim the trophy in a dramatic finale. After Rossi had conceded a needless corner, Boghossian headed against the post, then shepherded the ball as it rolled agonizingly across the line and into the far corner of the net, giving Parma a morale-boosting win.
