Middlesbrough are stepping up their interest in Wolves starlet Robbie Keane after it has been revealed he would welcome a move to Teesside. Boro manager Bryan Robson, who is a long-term admirer of the teenage starlet, was believed to have been in the Midlands last week discussing a proposed with for the player with the Molineux club. Keane himself was in the company of several Middlesbrough players last weekend, who were all gathered in Dublin for Alan Moore's stag night. The youngster knows the Irish contingent at the Riverside Stadium well, Jason Gavin in particular having played in the same youth set-up as the youngster. Keane, who also knows Curtis Fleming, Keith O'Neill and to a lesser degree Andy Townsend, said that he felt he would become a Middlesbrough player sometime during the summer. Boro have been unsuccessful with two enquiries for the 18-year-old before, but Robson remains undaunted and has asked to be kept informed of developments. It now seems that the player himself, if not the club, has decided the time is right to move.
