Reports have emerged suggesting that Bristol City had rejected two bids from Wolves for both Ade Akinbiyi and Micky Bell. The club are reported to have offered £2.25m for Akinbiyi and £150,000 for Bell, who were both signed by John Ward during his tenure as City boss. Ward has clearly recommended the two players to Colin Lee but the club will have to go higher still if they are to capture either target. City's vice chairman John Laycock has called the bid for Bell "derisory" and said that the club would be looking for at least £4m before they even considered selling Akinbiyi. Bell cost City £150,000 when they signed him from Wycombe two years ago, a fee that was at the time decided by tribunal. As far as Akinbiyi is concerned, City need to make a major profit as Gillingham are owed a large slice of any fee courtesy of a condition that was written into the £1.2m deal that took him to Ashton Gate. How much truth there is in these reports remains to be seen with Wolves unlikely to have been able to follow through any initial bids anyway, without the funds from the sale of Robbie Keane, who now looks to be staying at Molineux this summer
