Injuries Sideline Camby and Johnson 02.06.00

NEW YORK-Marcus Camby suffered a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of the right knee in Sunday's victory over the Miami Heat, executive vice president and general manager Scott Layden announced today. Camby suffered the injury when he was flagrantly fouled by P.J. Brown with 6:28 left in the fourth quarter of the Knicks 94-80 win at Madison Square Garden. He was taken to Beth Israel Singer Division (formerly Beth Israel North) where tests revealed the injury. He will undergo further examinations tomorrow (Monday, Feb. 7). "Most importantly, I feel badly for Marcus," said head coach Jeff Van Gundy. "We are a team which has dealt with injuries before, and now we are faced with dealing with them again." "This is obviously disappointing news for Marcus," said team physician Dr. Norman Scott. "But with hard work, I am optimistic he will be back on the court soon." Larry Johnson left Sunday's game with 11:25 left in the second quarter after twisting his left foot. Tests taken at Beth Israel Singer Division after the game revealed a chipped fracture of the fourth left metatarsal (left foot). "We will monitor Larry's progress on a day-to-day basis," said Dr. Scott.
