Foley Sets Record?
With Mankind's and The Rock's Tag Team Championship win on Monday's RAW, Mick Foley tied Billy Gunn's record as a six-time Tag Team Champion. Here's a look at the facts and figures relating to Mick's championship reigns:
-- Mick's six reigns have come with four different partners: Kane (twice), The Rock (twice), Terry Funk and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
-- All of Mick's partners are former world champions. Kane, The Rock and Austin are former Federation Champions, and Funk is a former NWA champion.
-- Mick has held the Tag Team Championship as all three of his famed personas: as Dude Love with Austin, as Cactus Jack with Funk, and as Mankind with Kane and The Rock.
-- Five of his championship wins have come on RAW. The lone exception was when he and Funk won the titles from the New Age Outlaws at WrestleMania XIV.
-- Although he has never held the title with the Undertaker, the Phenom has been instrumental in Mick's tag team success. Three times, the Undertaker has been on the losing end of a title swap -- once when Kane and Mankind defeated the Undertaker and Austin, and twice when The Rock and Mankind defeated the Undertaker and the Big Show.
-- The New Age Outlaws are also a big part of Foley's tag title history. At WrestleMania XIV, Foley and Funk won the tag titles from the Outlaws, but lost them back to the Outlaws the next day. Foley then teamed with Kane to regain the titles from the Outlaws in July, and then lost the titles back to the Outlaws at SummerSlam.
With his next Tag Team Championship win, Mick Foley will become the most decorated tag team superstar of all time! But before he gets that far, I'm sure Mankind and The Rock have some unfinished business to take care of
