How to Make a "Blank" Stadium Background
In order to play SOM Computer Baseball via NetMeeting, you will have to forego
the use of the stock Color Stadium backgrounds (the redraw times on these
suckers are outrageous). Thus, you will have to make your own "blank"
background for use when playing games via NetMeeting. Here is the proper
procedure:
-
You will need to do the following for BOTH day and night ballpark BMP files
that you are going to use:
-
Make a copy of the ballpark BMP file (located in your cdrombb\data folder)
that you are going to use as your "blank" background, and save it in your
cdrombb\color folder. (Ballpark files look like this: Bp010d. Bp/for
ballpark, 010/code #, d/day view or n/night view).
-
Open the original ballpark file using the Windows MS Paint program.
-
Choose "Select All" from the "Edit" menu.
-
Choose "Clear Selection" From the "Edit" menu.
-
Choose the color you want for your background, from the Color Pallette (I
prefer green myself).
-
Choose the "Fill" icon and click on the blank ballpark to fill in the color.
-
Choose "Save" from the "File" menu and close Paint.
-
Using the "Update Ballpark Info" function in the SOMBB game, place the stadium
code of the file you just "blanked out" in the "Code #" box of the team you
are using (the last 2 digits only, omit the 0. Thus, for ballpark code
010 you would place10 in the "Code #" box).
If you ever need to use your original ballpark stadium background, simply
replace your blank park with the original ,that you backed up, in you
cdrombb\color folder.
Try to use a color ballpark background that you rarely use when choosing
a ballpark file to blank out. If you have any original color ballparks
that were updated to new parks in the last few years, use one of those.
For instance, I use Bp010. which is the Oakland Coliseum ballpark,
which was replaced by the UMAX Coliseum ballpark image (Bp062) in '98.
