Roger Wilco is a real-time Internet voice chat program that allows you to actually talk to others via the Internet. It's small, simple, extremely easy to set-up and use, and best of all it's free.
Using Roger Wilco during your Net Play games will allow you to trade barbs with your opponent without slowing down your game. No more annoying delays while typing out messages to your opponent. You wouldn't communicate with a face-to-face opponent by passing notes back and forth would you? Of course not! Then why settle for the Net Play equivalent of the "scribbled note" when you can actually talk to your opponent during play?
Using Roger Wilco during your games will greatly enhance your Net Play experience and we at SOMNETPLAY.com highly recommend it.
Installation is pretty straight forward and shouldn't present any problems. The only thing you'll want to look out for is the "Gator License Agreement" dialog box (the 4th dialog box that appears during installation). Here you'll want to choose the "I do not accept the License Agreement" radio button before clicking 'Next' to continue the installation. If you fail to do this you'll get a stupid browser add-on installed as well (trust me, you won't want this).
We also suggest you go to the 'Adjust' tab after installation and make sure the box next to "Play Mike Clicks" is unchecked (if using "Press to Talk" mode).
For best results you should use a combination microphone/headset unit, if possible. Also we suggest that you use the "Press to Talk" transmit option; this will eliminate the "echo" effect of your opponent hearing his own voice played back to him through your mic.
You can find out more about Roger Wilco from the Roger Wilco web site.
The first thing you'll need to do is download Roger Wilco. Extract and double-click on the "rw_Win32_mk1c_mod1.exe" file to run the installation program.
Configuration is also pretty straight forward. The only thing we'd suggest is that you first choose "Use DirectSound Recording" for voice recording. If your sound card supports it you'll get better performance. If you find that your sound card does not support it you can go back and change the setting to "Use WAV Recording" (click 'configure' from the 'Adjust' tab).
