Sharon Chai, Wendy Chai, Sarah Yap and Shalin
Zulkifli stormed to a convincing win in the Team
event for Malaysia's fifth Gold Medal of the
competition.
The team scored a massive 6,260 pinfalls,
299 pins ahead of the Philippines comprising of
Liza Clutario, Josephine Canare, Irene Garcia,
Liza del Rosario and Cecilia Yap. Philippines
again had to content with silver medal, which
they also took in the Trios event yesterday. |

Indonesia's Sharon, Hie Lvana, Sarinah, Novie
Phang and Putty Armein upset the Singaporeans
edging them by 27 pins to snatch the bronze.
Singapore, who came into this year's competition
favourites to do well again failed to win a
medal finishing fourth with 5,736 pinfalls for
one point. Thailand trailed the event scoring a
lowly 5,376 pinfalls. |

Shalin Zulkifli won her third Gold medal by winning the
All Events with a total score of 5,255 after breaking
the Games record in the Team event on 1,400. This year's
Malaysian International Open Masters champion, Cecilia
Yap of the Philippines took the silver with 4,946 while Lai
Kin Ngoh brought home another bronze medal for
Malaysia with 4,945. Bronze medalist in the Women's
Doubles, Irene Garcia finished fourth in the table to
add one point to the Philippines with 4,882.
With one more event left in the competition, Malaysia is
maintaining the lead in the medal standings with 6 Gold,
3 silver, 2 Bronze medals and two 4ths to total 49
points. Philippines with 4 Gold, 5 Silver, 1 Bronze
medal and five 4ths increased their tally to 42 points
while Singapore, who has yet to win a Gold medal lies
third with 1 Silver, 3 Bronze medals and two 4ths for 11
points. |
