GAME OF THE WEEK |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rotlevi-Rubinstein, Lodz 1908 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
The first game of the week is one of my all-time favorites and features the guaranteed chess crowd pleaser - an amazing queen sacrifice. Enjoy! |

19.e5 Bb6+ 20. Kh1 Ng4! 21. Be4 Qh4 22. g3 !!Rxc3!! The beginning of a stunning combination that must have shocked Rotlevi. Few players of the time could match Rubinstein for classical brilliance and beautifully coordinated sacrificial attacks. |

23. gxh4 !Rd2! 24. Qxd2 Bxe4+ 25. Qg2 Rh3 26. White Resigns A beautiful ending to one of history's cannonical attacking games. Although, Rubinstein never played for the World Championship, he probably had more model attacking games than any other player of his era. |
