Byrne-Fisher
"Game of the Century"
This week's selection brings us one of Bobby Fisher's most exceptional games of his career (If not, his best). Bobby played this staggering game at the age of 13 during the Rosenwald Tournament in New York in 1956 - just a year before he would become U.S. Champion. His opponent was Donald Byrne, brother of another U.S. Champion, Robert Byrne. An observer, GM Hans Kmoch, was so excited by what he saw that he called it the "Game of the Century". This game is full of astonishing sacrifices and grand conceptions, however, everything is well thought out and beautifully controlled. Remarkable, for anyone, particularly someone his age. I am not providing any anlaysis here, just the moves, for it there is an extraordinary amount. If anyone wants it, just e-mail me and I'll forward it to you. Review the game and enjoy analyzing it yourself. I think you'll find it beneficial.
