Conclusion
Starting out this season, there were high expectations. With nine returning players, seven of them seniors, nothing less was expected but a league championship and playoff victories. Those were our goals, and if you look at statically, we failed miserably on both accounts. We only received tied for third place in league and won just one playoff game. But then again, those are some pretty high standards that we were supposed to live up to. Personally, my goals for this year were to just win. Win as many games we could in our league and win at least one CIF game. If you look at that those standards, then we accomplished everything. We won a total of eighteen games this year and loss only ten, and that just happens to be the same exact record of the first place team in our league. In addition to that, one of those eighteen wins just happened to be a CIF playoff game. So, in that sense we did come out winners, and that is the way it should be.
Looking at this team, it is kind of hard to see why there was so much pressure on us to win. I mean, we could expect nothing less that what we did, but size and skill wise, we were always undermatched. All of the guards were under 5'3", the tallest post player was 6'2" but the second post was only 5'4". I'm surprised to say that the only time that this was really exploited was in our final game against Foothill where their entire team seemed to be at least six feet tall. And then skill wise, only a handful of the people on this team have any skill whatsoever, the rest of us just tried really hard. But size and skill was not what we relied on in the games. We relied on something even more important, something that even the professional teams wish to gain and that is teamwork. On the court we know each other and how each person plays and off the court we are best friends. This was the factor that won us most of our games and one of the major reasons why we play this game. Through it all, this is the bond that connects us all together and will forever link us in life.
In all, this season has been great and this web page has been my outlet to tell the whole world about it. I didn't really count on many people reading this, but it's nice to know that this web page was actually read and used by people. But, sadly the season has come to a close and so shall this web page. Maybe I'll put up the statistics of the MVP or something later on, but that won't be announced for a long time. So, until then, I'll just leave you with my favorite quote: "Just do it, be Nike."
