Date of Birth: 29 January 1971
Albertz was relatively unknown to Rangers fans when he signed from Hamburg in 1996. Was forced to play out of his customary left midfield position due to injury for the first few months at Ibrox but since he moved to his customary spot in midfield he has shown why Rangers were willing to spend £4 million to secure his services. When he pushes forward his passing, strength, pace and ferocious left foot shot terrorise the opposition defences.
Has been nicknamed 'the hammer' because of his shooting ability and is always liable to unleash 100 mph plus shots at set pieces. Albertz was unfortunate not to be part of the winning German Euro 96 squad.
