Injury problems have plagued Ferguson for years but he still holds nine international caps and is regarded as first team member of the Rangers squad. He has been linked with moves to a variety of European clubs over the past season but continues to impress whenever he plays. He will continue to be remembered for scoring the only goal in the 1986/87 Scottish Cup Final to give the Paisley club their first major honour in 29 seasons. Ferguson is one of only three players with medals from all of Rangers historic 'nine in a row' seasons.
