Tony Vidmar signed a four year contract with Rangers in February but is not due to arrive at Ibrox until 1 July. The 26 year old Australian left back was available under freedom of contract via the Bosman ruling since he holds an Italian passport. Walter Smith had been tracking Vidmar since the beginning of the season and nipped in before Ajax, Utrecht and Borussia Moenchengladbach to secure his services.
