Peter Van Vossen

Peter Van Vossen

Peter Van Vossen

Date of Birth: 21 April 1968
Position: Forward
Height: 6'
Weight: 12st 2lbs
Signed: Istanbulspor, January 1996 for Oleg Salenko

A swap deal took Oleg Salenko to Turkish club Istanbulspor and brought Van Vossen to Ibrox. After a shaky start he seemed to settle into Scottish football and scored some valuable goals for Rangers. Even the Rangers players joked that it was his brother who spent the first season at Ibrox.

He has been likened to former Ibrox hero Ted McMinn because of his unpredictability going forward but the pedigree gained while playing for Anderlecht, Ajax and the Dutch national side in the 1994 World Cup. On his day Van Vossen looks impressive and he knows how to produce the unexpected. Seems to have been affected by his open goal miss against Celtic in November 1996 although a few goals would undoubtedly boost his confidence.
