Brooks - Cool shoes and stuff

State League Round 5 was the last before Xmas. We may or may not have one - AV ain't worked it out yet.

One thing for certain, Matt Hanrahan has something to share with us…

'Twas the Round Before Christmas
by Major Matthew Hanrahan Jr. (1748-1828(inj)-2001)

Twas the round before Christmas, when all through the team
Only muscles were glistening, all of Bayside looked lean
The trophies were hung as the neighbours did stare
And wondered just how we’d win two flags with flair

The athletes were nestled all in their Brooks threads
While visions of ‘Zorba’s specially priced Chicken or Lamb souvlaki’s’ danced in their heads
And Jussie away and me feeling crap
As Andre called out the wrong guy for twelve laps

When out on the lawn, Dave’s Jav did a’ clatter
While Matt Brown yelled loud when it just didn’t matter
Away from the blocks, Katrina a flash
She opened a break and grabbed the gold sash.

Bec Neilsen, Oz Champion, walked out there to throw
Just right near the spot where Siobhan had a go
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a track full of runners, our two lappers kick clear

With a Brit in her first, Karen proved she was quick
And while it came late, Brenno still had a kick
More rapid than eagles, the victories they came,
As we cheered and shouted out Zac by his name

Sean Sacher was dancing and negative splitzin’
‘Till he fell at the line as his feet needed fixin’
To the hand of the hurdler, who’s running the 4
Brendan Cole with a pb, he’s always got more

Corey Fuzz Lawson leaves the track with a sigh,
12 laps out, 5 secs late, he’ll be good for the try
Having been there, Tim Crosbie, a good pace he knew
He finished on hard. And he manages too!

And then through the carpark, I heard with a doof
Tom Farr in his laser, his jav’s on the roof
‘6 bucks for an invite?’ Tom couldn’t be found
‘But it’s free if you high jump’, and off did he bound

Tim showed us just how to clear over three feet
While Liam leads left, his hurdling’s still neat
A genie? MC? He was Nfa today
A strong looking 2, and a hurdles display.

Sue Gloster’s hand rose to chase one named Kerri
She stayed strong when many may not seem as merry
And Katie looks better each lap of the show
She seems to run PB’s wherever she go

Jeannette was our jumper, she gritted her teeth
It felt like a funeral with so many wreaths
As Kylie and Sarah and Ang hit the sand
Long Jumpers will never be out of demand

If we ever have questions to ask of our self
We could think of Ms Jones who’ll be good for our health
She came from Traralgon to run head to head
With a group of young girls who had short trips instead

They spoke not a word, but went straight to their work,
And filled all the placings, they ain’t no jerks
Laying their finger aside of their nose,
And giving a nod, up the ladder they rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!"
