More info on the Results Page. Jussie's report on Round 3, 1999/2000 Well, it is proving difficult for both the men's and women's team to put it together on the same night, but things are certainly going along quite smoothly. The Men It was looking like a solid night without seeming spectacular, that was until Eastside failed to complete a baton change in the 4x400 and all we had to do was beat APS to win the night's competition. A very hard-working team managed to do this, but it was about 16 hours before anyone could say for certain that we did, in fact, win. Our hurdlers are looking extremely strong this season and with Brendan and Stuart starting Programme 2 so well, it is making up for our lack of walkers. Nfa and Aaron are also slaying them over the sprint hurdles and Nfa has now run two PBs in three weeks. Our 800 team worked very hard to keep the success going and it was only in the last few metres that Tony was prevented from winning his third consecutive race. Evan Rees ran a season's best in his first individual event and his enthusiasm is something that is quite infectious. One of the highlights for the night was the 5000m and Bayside's athletes perfomed well. Marty ran a solid race as did Chris, who sustained his good early season form. Many thanks much be offered to Clint Perrett who ran his first State League race and, at 16, it can be assumed that Clint has many more ahead of him. The field events were solid again and it was good to see Cameron Grant back throwing the hammer. Dorijan Klasnic threw well in the shot and has managed to fill a signifcant gap in the team. Ultimately, it was a very satisfying evening and good things lie ahead. The WomenA tough night at the track meant that we were only able to come third, but it was reassuring to see that the score was high, yet again, and as long as the points are racked up in this manner things will continue to improve. Again, it was the 5000m that brought about two of the best performances of the night with Clair Fearnley running a solid second behind Anne Cross in her first race for the season, while Kate Seibold ran a big PB in a step up from the 800/1500 range. Running a lone hand in the 800 this week was Michelle Reid and in her first season with Glenhuntly, Michelle seems to be running well early on. Jeanette Bowles is scoring huge points for the team and is a very reliable athlete. She is running very well over the 100mh and after a good long jump on Thursday night, a good heptathlon is awaiting her. Gabrielle Neighbour threw a big one in the Hammer, breaking the 50m barrier and Lesley Weston made s good debut in the discus. Speaking of the throws, we wish Megan Boyes a quick recovery from a neck injury and hope to see her at Geelong. Sorry about the delay, but a night of boogie-ing at Tom Farr's 21st has meant that many of Bayside's athlets have been moving a little sluggishly, myself included. See you all at Geelong. Cheers, Justin
