1998 DraftThe Lakers pulled of a pretty good draft this year. Although I think they could've done better with their first round pick (Sam Jacobson is decent at best, plus he's a guard, which the Lakers don't need any more of), getting Ruben Patterson and Toby Bailey made the night worthwhile. It would have been nice to see Bailey stay with the club, though.Everyone seems to be happy with getting Tyronn Lue. Everyone thinks they did the team a favor by getting rid of Nick Van Exel, who was labeled a loudmouth and troublemaker. Let me tell you something - if the Lakers were looking to get rid of the loudmouths, they did the wrong thing by picking up Lue. He may seem like a cool guy, but believe me, that's just a front. I attend the University of Nebraska, and lived in the same dorm as Lue (my room was a floor below his and to the right). I saw him almost every day, and I've never met a person that was more into himself. Sure, he may have been the best player on campus, but come on, that's Nebraska. He's also the ultimate trash talker. I'm not trying to bash him; actually, I hope he's a good pick up for the Lakers. I just hope he changes his attitude and realizes he's playing with the big boys now. |
