Sher-Wood Player of the Month (Jan. 3,2001)

Tallahassee Tiger Sharks center Andrew Long is the Sher-Wood Player of the Month for December.

The 22-year-old recorded 12 goals and 11 assists for a total oof 23 points in December,while posting a +12 rating. Long garnered five power play goals and three game-winners. The Toronto native ended the month on a seven-game point streak. In 13 games,Long registered a point in every game except one. During December,the Tiger Sharks earned a 9-2-2 record,vaulting them into a tie with Pee Dee for second place in the Southeast Division. On December 16,Long tallied a hat trick in the Tiger Sharks 3-2 win against South Carolina.

The 6'2",190-pound winder finished December ranked fifth on the leading scorers list with 45 points (23g,23a). A 1996 draft pick of the NHL's Florida Panthers,Long placed second in the ECHL with 23 assists at the end of the month. Long became the only repeat winner of the Player of the Week award this season (Dec. 11-17 and Oct. 23-29).
