The annual Christmas Party at the Golden Eagle Country Club was a very special event for all who attended. The ballroom was beautifully decorated for Christmas, with Santa Claus present for anyone wishing to have a photo taken with him. There was a buffet line consisting of fruit, pasta salads, seafood salad, bread, roast beef, and chicken. The food was excellent, and everyone was free to mingle and talk with their favorite players, who seemed to like to hang out by the cash bar (go figure!). There was also one big auction table set up with photos that had been taken of the players and coaches. All of these photos were getting pretty high bids by the end of the night.
After everyone had a chance to eat,Linda Kranert hosted the Chinese Gift Exchange. This is always the funniest part of the evening, with players exchanging gifts with each other,or keeping what they have. It was pretty unusual since the spaghetti dinner (you had to cook yourself) was pretty popular this year. The alcoholic beverages are always a hard item to hang on to.
Great music was provided by Lightning Sounds, and everyone had a chance to work off some of the delicious dinner. Some of the players had graciously consented to having a dance card consisting of five dances throughout the evening. The lucky ladies paid $5 per dance, which was well worth a chance to dance with their favorite players.
Kyle Schultz, always a great storyteller, read us an interesting Christmas story with a southern appeal,"Twas the Night Before Christmas in Florida." The players were in great spirits, and couldn't let Kyle finish his story without getting in a little horse-play.
Thanks goes out to Linda Kranert for organizing the Christmas Party, eeryone had a great time and danced until the last song was played.
If you missed the fun this year,be sure to make plans to attend next year. It will surely get you in the holiday spirit!
